GDC GRACEY CURETTES S/9 (10MM) INSTRUMENTS KIT (GCWC9)
GDC GRACEY CURETTES S/9 (10MM) INSTRUMENTS KIT (GCWC9) Designed specifically for subgingival scaling and root planing, the Gracey curette series features a range of instruments tailored to different areas of the mouth. Generally, the higher the curette number, the further back it is used in the mouth.
The Gracey 1/2 is ideal for anterior teeth, including canines. Its small contra-angle and return angle create a stable toe position near the instrument handle’s mid-line, enhancing control. The long shank allows access to lower anteriors when the patient is in a supine position.
The Gracey 3/4 is also suited for anterior teeth, but it can be used as far back as the second bicuspids. Gracey 5/6 is best for interproximal use on most teeth up to the second molars and on distal and lingual surfaces up to the second bicuspid. However, its angulation limits access to difficult posterior areas.
The Gracey 7/8 is one of the most versatile, effective on buccal and lingual surfaces of bicuspids and molars. With a large contra-angle, medium return angle, and shorter shank, this curette is designed for easy access and counteracting twisting tendencies during use.
The Gracey 9/10 is primarily used on the buccal and lingual aspects of molars, especially around bifurcations, where access is more challenging. Its wide contra-angle and return angle, combined with a short shank, ensure good control and precision in hard-to-reach areas.
The Gracey 11/12 and 13/14 act as a pair for mesial and buccal root surfaces. These curettes are designed for bicuspids and molars, with a third angle added to the blade for better access. The 13/14 has an exaggerated curl, allowing access to posterior teeth while keeping the clinician’s hand comfortably out of the mouth.
The Gracey 15/16 and 17/18 were developed to improve access to difficult spaces. The 15/16 provides better access to mesial surfaces, while the 17/18 is tailored for distal areas of posterior teeth. Both feature exaggerated angles for optimal positioning in challenging areas.
With such a comprehensive range, many clinicians prefer a select few for routine use, knowing the rest are available for more specialized cases. This variety ensures tools for managing all clinical situations with ease.
